3. I want to begin tonight by telling you about a scientific theory.

4. In a number of space scientific writings recently.

5. There has been a great deal of talk about the nova experience.

6. The nova phenomenon occurs when a medium sized star about the size of the sun.

7. All of a sudden becomes brighter and hotter for a period of 7 to 14 days.

8. Then it becomes darker.

9. There are about 14 novas a year that are being observed in the universe right now.

10. Long time ago, scientists believed.

11. That the sun could maintain it’s present heat energy output for 8 million years.

12. Now scientists don’t believe that anymore.

13. The way they reached their previous held conclusion.

14. Is because they believed the hydrogen supply in the sun is only half exhausted.

15. And the reason they now have changed their mind and abandoned this theory is because this.

16. By observing other starts.

17. They discovered that these stars nova out as soon as half of the hydrogen is exhausted.

20. Once the sun is darkened.

21. Within 40 days, the earth will be frozen.

22. And it will disappear into the solar system.

23. Like a small ball of foil paper.

24. Now, to the average person, this sounds impossible.

25. How can the sun with all of it’s powerful heat.

26. How can the sun with all it’s powerful energy.

27. How can the sun with all of it’s bright light.

28. How can the sun cease from brightly shining and graciously warming us.

29. The answer is that it can happen.
答案是可能的。
30. Not only because scientists are concluding this now.
并不只是因为科学家们得出这个结论，
31. But also because the Bible said.
更因为圣经告诉我们：
32. In the final day,
在末后的日子，
33. Where there is a new earth, a new heaven.
在新天新地之中，
34. We will not need the sun.
我们不再需要太阳，
35. The Lord himself will be the light.
主亲自作我们的光。
36. And when this happens,
当这一切成就时，
37. Those who know the Lord Jesus Christ,
凡认识主耶稣基督的人，
38. Know that he is the source of light.
就知道祂是光的源头。
39. He is brighter than the sun.
祂比太阳更亮，
40. And more powerful than it’s energy.
比太阳的能力更强。
41. The Bible said,
圣经告诉我们说：
42. The sun will be no more,
不再有太阳，
43. Because the Son of God will be our light.
因为神的儿子要作我们的光。
44. This light was fully revealed 2000 years ago.
这光早在两千年前就已经完全被显露出来，
45. When Jesus declared that he is the light of the world.
就是在耶稣宣告，祂是世界的光的时候。
46. Now those of you who are tuning in for the first time tonight.
如果今天你是第一次收听我们的节目，
47. We are in the midst of a series of messages on the I Am sayings of Jesus Christ.
我们正在进行关于耶稣基督怎样称呼自己的系列信息。
48. In the last message,
在上次节目中，
49. We heard Jesus declare,
我们听到耶稣说，
50. That he is the bread of life.
祂是生命的粮。
51. That no one can have spiritual life or eternal life without believing in the body of the Son of God.
若不相信神儿子道成肉身，没有人可以得到永远的，属灵的生命。
52. No spiritual life without believing that Jesus was torn on Calvary for you.
不相信耶稣为你死在加略山上，你就不可能有属灵的生命。
53. And today we hear Jesus saying.
而今天我们听到耶稣说，
54. He is the light of the world.
祂是世界的光。
55. This is a great claim and provoked the Pharisees into vigorous opposition.
这是一个伟大的宣言，但也引起了法利赛人强烈的抵制。
56. Yet,
然而，
57. This claim is in the emphatic mood in the original language.
这句宣言在原文中的语调是充满力量的。
58. It is the kind of emphatic statement that only God could make.

59. Just as when Jesus declared that Jesus was the bread of life was supposed to remind us of the manna from heaven in the wilderness.

60. So is Jesus claim of being the light of the world supposed to evoke in their thinking the pillar of fire that guided their ancestors.

61. Possibly Jesus was reminding them of this.
也许耶稣是要提醒他们，
62. That there was a time when their ancestors were in slavery and bondage in Egypt.

63. And the 9th plague brought upon Egypt was darkness.
神降下的第九灾，使埃及全地陷入黑暗中。
64. So much so that the people could not see one another.

65. Yet the children of Israel had light in their dwelling places.

66. Read about this in Exodus 10:23,

67. Jesus the light of the world.
耶稣是世界的光，
68. He shines,
祂发出的光辉，
69. Not only in the hearts and the minds of those who follow them,
不仅照亮那些跟从者的心灵，
70. But he will also shine in their homes and in their dwelling places.
祂也照亮他们的家和居所。
71. The forces of darkness now seem to be gathering together.
现今，黑暗的势力似乎都聚集在一起，
72. The forces of darkness now seem to be uniting together.
黑暗的势力似乎都联合在一起了。
73. Perhaps because the evil one sees that his time is drawing near.
也许魔鬼知道他的结局近了，
74. And that is why he is working his hardest to mislead as any people as he can.
所以他才会无所不用其极地想要迷惑众人。
75. And the declaration of the Lord Jesus Christ ,
然而主耶稣基督宣告说，
76. That he is the light of the world,
祂是世界的光，
77. Gives us comfort,
这给了我们安慰，
78. Gives us courage,
给了我们鼓励。
79. To know that no matter how much darkness may be on the increase.
让我们知道，无论多大的黑暗，
80. It can never, never overcome the light.
它也永远战胜不了光明。
81. Jesus said in Matthew 5,
耶稣在马太福音第5章那里说，
82. That his disciples are also the light of the world.
祂的门徒也同样是世界的光。
83. He tells us that we are to be close to the original light.
祂要我们靠近光的源头，
84. To be so close to the great light.
因为紧紧接近祂这大光，
85. So we too can shine in the darkness.
我们才可以在黑暗中发出光来。
86. Some may say, I like to light a candle better than curse the darkness.
有些人会说，我宁愿点燃一根蜡烛，也不想诅咒黑暗。
87. I say, we must do both.
我说，我们必须两者兼顾。
88. I have committed myself to do both.
我已经双管齐下，
89. Cursing the darkness and lighting a candle.
也就是既诅咒黑暗，又点燃蜡烛。
90. I am not only committed to condemning darkness.
我决心不仅要斥责黑暗，
91. And exposing it for what it is.
要揭穿它的真面目，
92. But indeed I am committed to planting the light of the gospel for those who want to see their way out.
我更决心要为那些寻找出路的人，播撒福音的光明种子。
93. Those who like myself lived in darkness.
就是那些像我过去一样，生活在黑暗当中，
94. And want to come out of it into his marvelous light.
并想要进入祂的奇妙光明之中的人。
95. I am the light of the world says Jesus.
耶稣说：我就是世界的光。
96. Condemning the darkness and sharing the light go hand in hand.
斥责黑暗和分享光明是并肩而行的。
97. Condemning sin, but loving the sinner.
恨恶罪，但要爱罪人。
98. They must be practiced by those who love Jesus.
爱耶稣的人必须实践这两方面。
SECTION B
乙部
1. On the one hand doing whatever possible to rescue the perishing.
一方面，竭尽全力拯救要灭亡的人，
2. Reach out with love to the drowning.
爱那些快要沉沦的灵魂；
3. While at the same time calling sin, sin.
另一方面，也要明确地指出罪恶。
4. By definition, light is two things.
光，按定义来说有两层涵义。
5. It radiates energy.
释放能量，
6. And it shows the way.
同时也照亮道路。
7. It rays break the ether.
它的光线穿过以太，
8. And it’s effect is rendering the invisible to be visible.
它的效果就是使不可见的，变为可见的。
9. Jesus said I am the light of the world.
耶稣说：我是世界的光。
10. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness.
那跟从我的，就不在黑暗中行，
11. But have the light of life.
却有生命的光。
12. Who could deny the massive darkness that we face in these days.
谁能否认我们现今所面临的强大黑暗势力呢？
13. Darkness that threatens our generation worldwide.
黑暗威胁这整个世代。
14. I want to tell you about several of those elements of darkness.
我想告诉你关于这黑暗的几个要素：
15. First we face the darkness of relativism.
第一，我们面临相对主义的黑暗势力。
16. Which has given us a generation which cannot distinguish between right and wrong.
相对主义使我们这个世代黑白不分，是非混淆。
17. Schools and colleges of all kinds have taught and continue to teach that there are no moral absolutes.
教育界正在教导人们，没有绝对的道德标准。
18. They teach that right and wrong are subjective concepts.
他们教导说，对错只是一个主观的理念，
19. And they don’t belong to an enlightened society.
不适用于文明社会。
20. Our call is to say, no this is a fallacy.
而我们却要说，不！这是一个谬论！
21. And we must tell them that it has never worked in the past.
我们必须告诉他们，这谬论在以前是行不通的，
22. Will never work in the future.
以后也永远行不通。
23. We must provide an environment in our homes and our churches for the young people.
我 们必须在家里或是教会中，为我们的年轻人营造一个环境，
24. So they can learn the truth.
这样，他们可以学习真理，
25. And they develop their critical senses.
并帮助他们建立自己的判断能力，
26. And to realize the consequences and the lies of sin.
从而意识到罪的虚谎和结果。
27. Secondly we have the darkness of Biblical relativism.
第二，我们面临圣经相对主义的黑暗势力。
28. The relative theology teaches that since the Bible belongs to a pre-scientific time.
相对神学说，既然圣经属于科学发达前的时代，
29. It can only be understood and interpreted as figure of speech and symbolic.
那么，圣经只能被看作是一种象征性的文学作品。
30. We must shine the light of Jesus.
我们必须发出耶稣的光来，
31. Not only to expose this old lie.
不仅要揭发这个古旧的谎言，
32. But to instruct and train God’s people of all ages.
更要指示，并教导历世历代神的儿女，
33. As reflections of the real light.
像真光的反射一样。
34. We must provide opportunities for those who have been mislead to come out and experience firsthand how the light can shine in the midst of darkness.
我们要给那些曾经迷失的人一个机会，使他们可以亲自体会这光是怎样在黑暗中照耀的。
35. Thirdly, we have the darkness of immorality.
第三，我们面临道德堕落的黑暗势力。
36. Which has given many cities around the world drugs and violence.
这股势力将毒品和暴力带到世界上许多城市里。
37. Our call is to reflect the great light clearly.
我们领受的呼召，就是要将伟大的真光反射出来。
38. We are to shine the light of Jesus Christ and declare what the Bible declares.
要发出耶稣基督的光来，也要宣告圣经所说的。
39. That sin is an abomination in the sight of God.
圣经指出，在神眼中，罪是十分可憎之物，
40. But we must reach with love and compassion.
但我们必须用爱心和仁慈对待人。
41. We must reach to individuals who are being misled by a handful of people who deceive them.
面对每一个曾被欺骗过的人，
42. We must reach to them with love and compassion.
我们必须付出爱心和仁慈。
43. We are called upon to shine our light upon the world and expose the darkness.
我们被呼召向这个世界发光，揭发黑暗的势力；
44. Yet by the same token, we must reach with arms of love and compassion for those who have been misled.
同时也要向那些迷失的人，伸出慈爱的双臂，
45. Especially those who do not believe that there is a God.
特别是那些不相信有上帝的人。
46. We must declare to them the light of God’s love and forgiveness and restoration.
我们要宣告神慈爱，宽恕，重建的光芒。
47. Then there is another form of darkness.
还有另一种形式的黑暗，
48. It is a darkness of materialism.
就是物质主义的黑暗。
49. We must shine the light of those who worship money.
我们必须去光照那些崇拜金钱的人；
50. We must shine the light upon those who would do anything for money.
我们必须去照亮那些唯利是图的人；
51. We must shine the light on the world to our young people who are most vulnerable of all.
我们必须去光照那些最容易被诱惑的年轻人。
52. And we must say to them that material possession is not the answer.
我们要告诉他们，拥有财富并不是生命的答案。
53. That means that parents must work extra hard.
也就是说，身为父母的要格外努力，
54. To be light to their children.
才能作孩子们的表率；
55. To warn them of the wicked forces out there.
才能警戒他们，要提防这个世代邪恶的势力。
56. And must show them love by spending time with them.
父母需要花时间陪伴孩子，来表达对他们的爱。
57. Please listen carefully.
请仔细听我说：
58. Ignoring your children will only deliver them to the arms of those ungodly forces of darkness.
忽视你的孩子，只会把他们送到不敬畏神的，黑暗的势力手中。
59. Someone explained the influence of parents upon their children in these words.
有人用下面的话来形容亲子关系：
60. If the light is in them, it must shine.
如果父母生命中有光，它一定会发出来。
61. If darkness reigns, is shades.
如果黑暗掌权，它就带来阴影。
62. If they are frozen with selfishness, the cold will chill the atmosphere around them.
如果他们生长在自私的冰窖里，那寒气就会影响他们周围的环境。
63. And if corrupt and vile they will poison them.
久而久之，就会腐蚀他们的身心。
64. Jesus said,
耶稣说：
65. I am the light of the world.
我是世界的光。
66. However he also said,
但祂同时也说：
67. You are the light of the world.
你们是世界的光。
68. And in this connection Jesus said,
耶稣用下面的话来作连接：
69. Even so let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
好叫你们如同明光照耀在人前，使人看见你们的好行为，就归荣耀给你们在天上的父。
70. What a challenging word!
这是多大的一个挑战啊！
