4. I want to begin to talk to you about two kinds of trees.

5. One of those trees grows in the middle east,

6. It is called the oleaster tree.

7. Then there is another type of tree that grows in the tropics,

8. This tree is called the banyan tree.

9. During this broadcast,

10. I want to challenge you to ask yourself this question,

11. What kind of tree does my life resemble?

12. Is you life like the oleaster tree?

13. That looks busy from the outside doing things for God.

14. Does your life on the outside look active and involved?

15. And then when you look inside or you look closer you find no fruit.

16. Or is your life like the banyan tree,

17. Tree that spreads and spreads and multiplies itself in the lives of others.

18. Only you can answer these questions.

19. As we look to this next to the last of the I Am sayings of Jesus.

20. I want you to turn with me to John chapter 15,

21. There we will see what Jesus had to say about the trees and the branches.

22. Jesus said:

23. I am the vine the true one,

24. And you are the branches,

25. Abide in me.

26. I am the vine, the true one said Jesus,

27. And you are the branches.
你们是枝子。
28. Jesus was telling his disciples,
耶稣是在告诉门徒,
29. That because he is going to the Father,
因为祂就要去见天父了,
30. And the world will not be able to hear his words.
世界不能再听到祂的话。
31. That are coming out of his lips.
我是指,听到祂亲口说话。
32. Therefore the world should hear Jesus’ words from their lips.
所以,世界就要从门徒的口中听到耶稣的话。
33. Jesus is saying this,
耶稣是说,
34. I will not physically be here to manifest the holiness of the Father,
我的肉身将不在这里,继续彰显天父的圣洁荣美,
35. But you must do that.
但你们却要如此行。
36. I will not physically be here to declare the righteousness of the Father,
我虽不能亲自宣称神的公义,
37. But you must do that.
但你们却要如此行。
38. I will not physically be here to tell of the love of the Father,
我虽不能亲自传播天父的慈爱,
39. But you must do that.
但你们却要如此行。
40. In declaring Jesus to the world,
将耶稣传与世界,
41. We have the assurance that he will supply us with his power.
我们相信祂会赐我们能力。
42. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must abide in the vine,
正如枝子必须连于葡萄树才能结果子,
43. So neither can you unless you abide in the vine,
我们也必须连接在树上,
44. And the vine is Jesus.
而耶稣就是那葡萄树。
45. Just as the branch depends on the vine for the nutrients that comes out of it,
就像枝子依靠葡萄树供应养分,
46. So are we in our relationship with Jesus.
我们与耶稣的关系也是如此。
47. Our unity with Jesus is not a mechanical juxtaposition,
我们与耶稣的联合,并不是像机械上零件的连接,
48. But it is an organic unity,
而是一种生理上的连接,
49. Just as the branch and the vine are organically united,
正如枝子和葡萄树在生理上是连为一体的,
50. So must all the branches who want to bear fruit.

51. We are one with Christ when we adopt his purpose to be our purpose,

52. We are one with Christ when his goal becomes our goal,
我们以基督的目标为目标时,我们就与祂连为一体;
53. We are one with Christ when his agenda becomes our agenda,
我们以基督的计划为计划时,我们就与祂连为一体;
54. We are one with Christ when his perspective becomes our perspective,
我们以基督的观点为观点时,我们就与祂连为一体。
55. And that is why Jesus said that the Father is the gardener.
这就是为甚么耶稣说,天父是栽培者。
56. You see, the gardener has a way of taking care of the branches.
我们知道,园丁懂得怎么修理枝子。
57. He has his own way of watching over it so that it doesn’t go off on it’s own private agenda.
祂知道怎么照管枝子,使枝子不至于自作主张,一意孤行。
58. Because the good gardener is very interested in producing good fruit,
因为好的园丁很注重枝子结出好的果子,
59. Much fruit.
并多结果子。
60. When you and I try to get off on a tangent,
当你我想要另找出路,
61. When you and I try to pull our branches in the wrong direction,
当你我想要朝错误的方向去生长时,
62. The vine dresser comes in,
修剪枝子的人就来了,
63. And he prunes those unnecessary and unproductive shoots.
祂修理干净那些多余,不结果的枝子。
64. Let me tell you about what horticulturists tell us.
让我们来听听园艺专家所说的吧。
65. They tell us that the vine tends to produce certain shoots called sucker shoots,
他们说,葡萄树很容易结出一些叫做吸血鬼的枝子,
66. These shoots often grow where the branches join the stem.
这些枝子总长在枝子与主干相连的地方。
67. If these sucker shoots are allowed to continue to grow,
如果让吸血鬼枝子不断长大,
68. They would dissipate the life of the vine,
他们就会吸走葡萄树的养分,
69. And the vine would produce only leaves and no grapes.
葡萄树就光长叶子,却不结果子。
70. The good vine dresser makes sure that he must prune these suckers to ensure fruit,

71. And this is what the Father does in our lives.
这就是天父在我们的生命中所做的。
72. He trims off the troublesome shoots in our lives,
祂修理干净我们生命中有毛病的枝子,
73. In order that we may be productive.
使我们可以结果子。
74. Often times pruning looks and feels painful,
通常,修理会带来痛苦;
75. Often times pruning looks and feels merciless,
通常,修理会让人感到残忍;
76. Often times pruning looks and feels wasteful,
通常,修理会让人觉得浪费;
77. But you see, with God there is no random cutting,
但是你要知道,上帝绝不会徒劳无功的,
78. Nothing he trims away that is not for our good.
祂所修剪的,没有一样不是为了我们的好处的。
79. When the sucker shoots of self-centeredness comes in,
当自我中心这个吸血枝子长出来时,
80. Or selfishness,
或者是自私,
81. Or self-seeking,
或是寻求自我表现,
82. Or inward looking,
或是企图自我彰显,
83. When any of these sucker shoots begin to grow in our lives,
当任何这些东西,就像吸血枝子开始在我们的生命中生长时,
84. The Father may let these shoots grow for just a little while,
天父也许会暂时允许他们存在一会儿,
85. But then what happens?
接下来会怎样呢?
86. We mistakenly think that he wants us to be self-seeking and self-centered,

87. We rationalize his patience and we misunderstand his long-suffering,

88. And that is why we get shocked and surprised when he reaches down and begins to prune away those sucker shoots.
因此,当祂来修剪那些坏枝子时,我们感到惊讶,难以接受。
89. When we are broken and bleeding and lying bear our innermost being.
我们内心破碎流血,落在痛苦绝望中。
90. Jesus begins to flow through us again,
然而,耶稣的生命此时又会开始运行在我们生命中,
91. The sap and the nutrients of the word begins to flow through us again.
神话语的养分又会开始滋润我们的生命。
92. And we begin to be productive again and useful again,
我们又开始变为有用的,结果子的人;
93. We begin to live the life of holiness again,
我们又开始过圣洁的生活;
94. We begin to live a life of righteousness again.
我们又开始过公义的生活。
95. Until the next sucker shoots begin to grow once again,
直到下一根吸血枝子再长出来,
96. Then we go through the same process all over again.
我们又会经历同样的过程。
97. We can save ourselves a lot of trouble,
我们可以避免很多麻烦,
98. We need to abide in the vine.
所以,我们要常在葡萄树上。
99. I hope you are listening to me very carefully,
我盼望你仔细听我说,
100. I am going to tell you about something that is very, very important,
我要告诉你一件至关重要的事,
101. And this is how to abide and stay abiding.
就是怎样连接,并且保持连接。
102. Verse 7 of chapter 15 of the gospel of John gives us the answer.
约翰福音15章第7节给了我们答案。
103. We abide in Jesus by abiding in his word.
我们常在耶稣的话里面,就会常在祂里面。
104. How do you know that you are abiding?
你怎么知道你常在祂里面呢?
105. How do you recognize the voice of the Lord?
你怎样分辨主的声音呢?
106. How do you realize whether you are connected to the vine or not?
你怎样才能知道你是否连于基督呢?
107. How to recognize the sucker shoots when they begin to spring up?
你怎样才能分辨那些吸血枝子呢?
SECTION B
乙部
1. The answer is this:
答案如下:
2. By spending adequate time studying, learning, and comprehending his word.
用足够的时间来研读,学习,理解祂的话语。
3. This is what Jesus said:
这就是耶稣所说的:
4. If you abide in me,
你们常在我里面,
5. And my words abide in you.
我的话也常在你们里面。
6. That is the secret.
这是秘诀。
7. His word does not abide in our memories as just mere words,
祂的话语不像其它普通的话语一样,记忆在我们的脑海中;
8. His words are not to abide in our minds as mere facts,
也不像其它头脑中的事实;
9. His words are not to abide in our reason as mere truth,
也不像其它理性的真理;
10. These words are not to abide in our feelings as mere sentiments.
也不像其它的感觉。
11. His word has to pervade our whole spiritual being as principles of life,
祂的话乃是渗透在我们生命中,成为生命的原则;
12. They are to invade our whole being as the basis for all of our action.
祂的话乃是贯穿在我们生命中,成为我们一切行为的准则。
13. Just as the food gets assimilated into the physical body to sustain and nourish the body,
正如食物溶解在身体里,提供我们所需的营养,
14. So must the words of Jesus.
耶稣的话也是这样。
15. When we abide in his word,
当我们常在祂的话里面,
16. And his word abides in us,
祂的话也常在我们里面,
17. We will know him better.
我们就会更认识祂。
18. We will see his hand working even when others cannot,
其它人看不见祂的作为,而我们能看见;
19. We will trust him even in the midst of difficult times,
在困难中,我们仍然会依靠祂;
20. We will love him when others don’t understand him,
在别人无法理解的时候,我们还会去爱祂;
21. We will make him known even in the midst of ridicule and mockery.
在讥讽嘲笑我们的人面前,我们仍然会传扬祂。
22. Sometimes we forget that producing fruit is not possible without the pain of pruning.
有时我们忘了,要想结果子就必须经历剪枝的痛苦。
23. Effective ministry cannot be done on the cheap,
有效的事奉是不能偷工减料的,
24. It cannot be done without costing God’s people.
神的子民是要付上代价的。
25. Listen to what David said,
我们听听戴维是怎么说的,
26. God forbid that I give God that which costs me nothing.
神不会要我用白得之物献给祂。
27. I’m going to conclude this broadcast with this story.
我想用一个故事来结束今天的节目。
28. There were two members of a certain church ,
在某间教会有两个会友,
29. And they were leaving that same church at the same time one Sunday morning.
一个主日早晨,他们同时离开教会。
30. And as they start walking away from the church building,
当他们正要走出教堂时,
31. One looked at the other with a bitter complaint and said:
其中一个对另一个抱怨说:
32. Well, we’ve heard it again this morning,
我们今早都听见了,
33. That we are supposed to give willingly.
我们应当甘心乐意的奉献。
34. And give regularly,
要定期,经常地付出,
35. And give generously.
还要慷慨地给予。
36. All that the minister says is give, give, give.
牧师所说的就是给给给,不停地给。
37. When will this preaching on giving going to end?
这个关于奉献的话题,甚么时后才能结束?
38. Then his friend turned to him and said:
他的朋友对他说:
39. He said, Bill,
比利呀,
40. You remember my son Jim don’t you?
你还记得我的儿子吉姆吗?
41. When Jim came into the world, he cost us a sum of money.
当他出生时,他花了我们一大笔钱。
42. I had to pay the doctors bills,
我要付医生的费用,
43. And the hospitals bills,
医院的费用,
44. And then we had to buy him a special crib,
要买一个特别的摇篮,
45. And all the other things that babies need,
还有婴儿所需的一切物品,
46. Then we spent a lot of money of medicine, food, and clothing.
我们也花钱买药品,食物,和衣服。
47. And as Jim grew, his expenses increase.
随着他成长,花费也不断上涨。
48. And when he started school, there was money for school activities and all the other requirements.
他上学后,我们又要付学校的许多费用。
49. Then he needed braces for his teeth and that cost us a lot of money.
他还要矫正牙齿,也花了我们不少钱。
50. And then he went to college,
然后他上了大学,
51. And then you can only imagine how much that cost us.
你可以想象那绝不是一笔小的开支。
52. Well as you may remember Bill,
比利,你也许还记得,
53. Just a few weeks from graduation,
就在毕业前几周,
54. Jimmy was killed in a car accident.
吉米出车祸去世了。
55. He said, you know Bill?
比利,你知道吗?
56. Since we have buried my boy, he has cost us nothing,
埋葬了我们的儿子后,他再也没有花过我们一分钱,
57. Not one red cent.
一分也没有。
58. How I wish we had him back so we could spend something on him.
我多么希望他能回来,让我再为他花一些钱。
59. Anything that is alive costs.
只要活着,就会花钱。
60. Any branch that produces fruit must be pruned to produce much fruit.
结果子的枝子要被修理,才会接出许多果子来。
61. And so we end where we began,
我们又回到了节目的开始,
62. What kind of a tree are you?
你是那一种树呢?
63. Are you an oleaster tree,
你是野橄榄,
64. Or are you a banyan tree?
还是榕树?
65. Will you be able to look Jesus in the eye on the day of judgment and say:
你是否能在最后大审判的那天,正面看着耶稣说:
66. Lord I used my time for your glory,
主啊,我为你的荣耀用上我的时间;
67. Lord, I used my money for your glory,
主啊,我为你的荣耀用上我的金钱;
68. Lord, I used my talents and my gifts for your glory,
主啊,我为你的荣耀用上我的恩赐和才干;
69. Lord I produced fruit in your kingdom.
主啊,我为你的国度而结出果子。
70. My prayer is that everyone who is hearing me today will be able to say that.
我盼望每一个收听这节目的人,将来都可以这么说。
